Laurie Hodges Humble
Laurie Hodges Humble enjoys being a Suite 101 Contributing Writer and is very excited about sharing her expertise and knowledge with you.
Laurie is a full-time writer and editor. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of British Columbia.
Prior to becoming a freelance editor and writer Laurie worked for universities where she specialised in writing and reviewing policy interpretation, grant and proposal applications, along with project management. Today she uses these same skills to assist her clients with their corporate communications. She has a knack for translating technical jargon into plain language instructional and communication materials.
One of Laurie’s passions is fiction writing. She is an active member in two writers’ groups and belongs to the Writers Guild of Alberta. Another of her passions is promoting the use of Canadian spelling in Canada. Laurie relaxes by reading, and especially enjoys books that make her laugh out loud.
Laurie has successfully published four works of short fiction and is now expanding into the realm of non-fiction writing. Her list of publications include:
“Leah Poelman: A Writer's Passion for Community”, WestWord Magazine, Jan/Feb 2008
